The
U-6 program in intended to be a fun introduction to the
game of soccer in a minimally competitive environment.
Focus is on development of basic skills while enjoying
competition and being a member of a team.
-
-
Teams
will be mixed boys and girls.
-
Play
is three aside; ( a sweeper/keeper and two forwards).
-
Team
size will be 8 to 10 kids.
-
Teams
will practice/play once a week for 1.5 hours. Last year
the sessions were at Clinton Ford School (Alternative
High School) on Saturdays from 10:00a.m. to 11:30a.m.
Although we are hoping to have the same days and times
as last year, field availability has not been confirmed
by Calgary Parks and Recreation. THEREFORE, PLEASE DO
NOT COUNT ON THE DAY AND TIME BEING THE SAME. We will
advise as to the actual date and time as soon as possible.
-
The
teams will normally practice for half and hour and play
for 45 minutes. Games will be against the other U-6 Calglen
teams.
-
Score
in the games will not be kept (except by the kids). Player
statistics and standings are similarly not kept.
-
Teams
will participate in the Mini-Fest organized by the Calgary
Minor Soccer Association during May 29-30 weekend. During
that weekend, the normal practice/game will not be held.
Instead the teams will play four games, two on Saturday,
two on Sunday at the Calgary Soccer Centre. (This event,
and the dates, is tentative depending upon whether CMSA
decides hold the event this year.)
-
Shin
guards are mandatory and must be provided by the player.
-
A
Calglen T-shirt for games and practice is included within
the registration fee.
-
Outdoor
soccer shoes (cleats) are permitted but not required.
Players must wear a proper running shoe of some kind.
Sandals and the like are not permitted.
-
Practice
balls (Size 3) will be provided.
